Nigel Farage's eventful trip to Scotland

The UKIP leader Nigel Farage has told the BBC he will not be intimidated out of Scottish politics despite needing police protection during a visit to Edinburgh on Thursday.

He accused demonstrators of being anti-English and warned of dark forces in Scottish nationalism.

The SNP say Mr Farage has lost the plot.

BBC Scotland's political correspondent Raymond Buchanan reports.
