Scotland's health secretary had to leave an operating theatre after feeling faint while watching surgery.
Alex Neil was watching a kidney transplant operation at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary on Wednesday.
It has been reported that he fainted moments after surgeons made an incision, but Mr Neil's office denied that he passed out.
He is said to have recovered outside with "a glass of water and a chocolate biscuit".
Mr Neil said: "As part of my 'back to the floor' visits to see the health service in action, I watched a live donor kidney transplant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
"During the transplant I started to feel lightheaded. I wanted to go back to the floor - but not literally, so I had to leave the theatre to recover.
"It really shows you that NHS staff are something special and I would like to thank the staff at NHS Lothian for their care and attention - our patients really are in safe hands."
