Police investigate 'gang attack' on student in Thailand

Police are investigating reports that a British student has been attacked by a gang of men while visiting Thailand.

The Bangkok Post said the woman was from Scotland and it is claimed she was assaulted after leaving a nightclub on Friday.

The Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of a British national having been involved in a serious assault in Thailand.

"We are providing consulate assistance at this difficult time."

Police in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the south of the country, are investigating.
