Scottish companies ended 2012 on a downbeat note.
A new survey by Lloyds TSB Scotland's quarterly monitor shows nearly 40% of firms surveyed said their turnover had fallen.
The findings have been published as First Minister Alex Salmond pledged to work with the oil and gas sector to continue its success.
