Bookmakers robbed at knifepoint

Two women working at bookmakers shop in South Lanarkshire were threatened with a knife by a robber demanding money, police have said.

The women, aged 24 and 45, were working at the Coral Bookmakers on Main Street in Cambuslang when the man came in at about 20:30 on Friday.

He threatened the women with the knife and ran out of the shop with a three-figure sum of cash.

Police said the robbery left the women uninjured but shaken.

The suspect was last seen heading towards Bank Street.

He was described as being in his mid 20s, 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in, slim built and was wearing a light coloured hooded top that was very baggy.

He was also wearing blue jeans, white training shoes and had a dark scarf around his face.

Det Sgt John Magilton said he would like to speak to anyone who saw the man entering or leaving the bookmakers shop.
