Shop staff threatened with gun
A man who threatened staff at a Lanarkshire grocery store with a firearm got away with a four-figure sum of money, police have said.
The robber demanded money from the two 24-year-old male shop assistants at the Spar store on Hamilton Road in Motherwell at about 21:15 on Friday.
Police said he threatened the men with what appeared to be a firearm in a carrier bag.
The shop assistants were uninjured but very distressed, officers said.
The suspect was described as being white, about 6ft, heavy built and was wearing a black and blue tracksuit top, light blue tracksuit bottoms and had a scarf covering most of his face.
Det Con Graham McAdam said he would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around outside the shop prior to the robbery taking place.
