How do power companies keep the electricity on when bad weather strikes?

Scottish Power has been preparing for wintry weather by carrying out pre-emptive work.

BBC Scotland's James Cook has been in a helicopter to see engineers survey the network from the air, identify problems and carry out follow-up work on the ground.
