Piper Ian Speirs wins Glenfiddich Piping Championships

Edinburgh piper Iain Speirs has won the Glenfiddich Piping Championships.

The competition, the most prestigious solo prize, sees the 10 best pipers from around the world gather at Blair Castle in Perthshire to compete for the title.

The championships are in their 39th year and it was Mr Speirs's 10th appearance at the competition.

Mr Speirs, who lives in Edinburgh with his wife and children, is head of marketing at Kames Capital.

The Glenfiddich Piping Championship was established in 1974.

Competitors are invited to compete having won other piping competitions during the year.
