Scottish independence: Salmond, EU and ministerial code
Alex Salmond has asked independent advisers to check whether or not he is in breach of the ministerial code of conduct.
The First Minister's request comes amid the row over legal advice regarding an independent Scotland and its place in the European Union.
At Holyrood, Mr Salmond's political opponents accused him of "ducking and diving" over the issue.
Mr Salmond said he had acted properly throughout. BBC Scotland's political editor Brian Taylor reports.
