The Cone Gatherers in new stage play in Scotland
The Cone Gatherers have been described as one of the great classics of Scottish literature.
Robin Jenkin's novel is still taught in schools but is rarely seen on stage or screen.
Tuesday 11 September marked the centenary of the author's birth and coincides with a new stage production of the novel which is touring Scotland.
BBC Scotland's arts correspondent Pauline McLean reports.
