First Group out bid Virgin Train for cross-border rail
First Group has won the franchise to run the West Coast mainline.
The Aberdeen-based transport group will assume control of the London to Glasgow line in December, after out-bidding its main rivals Virgin Trains.
But First Group's share price fell sharply off the back of the announcement. BBC Scotland's transport correspondent David Miller reports.
