Five car crash closes M8 motorway

A crash involving five cars caused long delays on the M8 near Harthill during the morning rush hour.

Traffic in both directions was affected after the crash on the westbound carriageway between junction four and five at about 07:00.

Police said there were no serious injuries but the westbound carriageway was closed for a short time in North Lanarkshire and West Lothian.

Long delays continued for hours on both carriageways and local roads.
