Edinburgh bells ring out for Olympics
People in Scotland joined the rest of Britain in ringing bells to mark the start of the Olympic Games.
At 08:12 bells rang out for three minutes.
The most northerly bell to chime was the Belle Spence on Skaw beach on the Isle of Unst.
In Edinburgh, people rang bells on the Scotsman Steps which were transformed into a public artwork by Martin Creed the artist behind the bell ringing celebration.
