One of Scotland's busiest roads has reopened to traffic after major flooding closed a junction in Ayrshire.

Strathclyde Police had been diverting traffic off the A77 Glasgow to Ayr road to avoid the Meiklewood Interchange near Kilmarnock.

The northbound carriageway is now fully re-open to traffic and one lane is open on the southbound carriageway.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene with three appliances and a boat.

Met Office weather warnings had been in place for large parts of southern Scotland over Thursday evening, but have now cleared.
