SNP and Labour gain in elections


The SNP and Labour have each claimed victory in the 2012 Scottish council elections.

The poll was a disaster for the Liberal Democrats, who lost their leader in Edinburgh.

Talks will now get under way across Scotland to work out just who will form the ruling administrations at most councils.
