Man, 85, robbed at cash machine

An 85-year-old man was robbed of a three-figure sum of money at a cash machine outside a bank in the centre of Edinburgh in broad daylight.

The man was at the ATM outside the Royal Bank of Scotland on Nicolson Street at about 13:20 on 28 January when a man snatched the money from him.

The thief was white, 20 to 30 years old, 5ft 10in tall with an athletic build.

He was wearing stonewashed coloured jeans and brown shoes.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "The street was busy with both pedestrians and traffic on Saturday afternoon, so we are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and may have noticed a man acting suspiciously, to get in touch."
