Boy dies and two girls rescued in Kilmarnock house fire
A nine-year-old boy has died and two young girls are in hospital after a house fire in Kilmarnock.
Mother Sheree McGill, 34, escaped from the house then tried to get back in to rescue her son Evan and other children but was held back by neighbours, according to her sister.
Her two younger daughters Yasmin, four, and Nya, three, were rescued by firefighters and taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
Assistant chief officer Robert Scott, from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, said it was too early to tell how the fire started.
