Parents welcome Christmas babies in Scotland

Proud parents have been celebrating the arrival of Scotland's Christmas babies, with the first being born just minutes after midnight.

One of the first was a girl delivered at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital at 00:03, born to Irena and Darius Smulkstiene, weighing 7lb 9oz.

Just one minute later, a baby boy was born at Glasgow's Princess Royal Maternity Hospital.

The births were among several to be announced at hospitals across Scotland.

At Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary, Aleasha Campbell and Steven Todd from Edinburgh welcomed their daughter Lily, weighing 7lb 10.5oz, into the world at 00:05.

Baby Jacksen arrived at St John's Hospital in Livingston, West Lothian, born to parents Heather and Derek Brown, from Bathgate, at 02:22 and weighing 9lb 10oz.
