A diver has died after getting into difficulties while exploring a wreck near Wemyss bay in the Firth of Clyde.

He and a companion were thought to have been suffering from the effects of decompression, known as the "bends".

The survivor of the accident has been taken to a decompression chamber in Millport.

The alert was raised shortly before 13:00 on Sunday. The rescue operation involved a Royal Navy helicopter from HMS Gannet and the Largs lifeboat.
