A comedy competition which seeks to find the country's funniest up-and-coming comedian has been won by Tommy Rowson.

So You Think You're Funny?, which has been running for 24 years, has previously been won by Rhona Cameron, Lee Mack and Tommy Tiernan.

Before the Edinburgh final, organisers held heats all over the UK.

Rowson, the only finalist from London, was followed in second place by Dayne Rathbone from Australia.

Each act had just eight minutes to prove to the judges how funny they were.

Judges included Gilded Balloon's artistic director Karen Koren and celebrity judge Lee Mack, a previous winner in 1995.
