Scottish Colourists' art on sale

Paintings by the Scottish Colourists are expected to top £2m when they go on sale in Edinburgh later this month.

One of the paintings by Samuel Peploe is expected to fetch the most, around £500,000.

Samuel Peploe was part of the Scottish Colourists together with Francis Cadell, John Leslie Hunter and John Duncan Fergusson. They absorbed and reworked the strong and vibrant colours of contemporary French painting into a distinctive Scottish idiom during the 1920s and 1930s.
