Man, 39, dies in motorbike crash

A 39-year-old motorcycle rider has died after crashing in rural Stirling on Thursday evening.

Thomas Travers from Cambuslang, Glasgow, was riding north on the A809, Milngavie to Drymen road, when he lost control on a bend.

Police said the motorcyclist hit a roadside barrier near the Queen's View car park at about 2125 BST.

Mr Travers was taken to Glasgow's Western General Infirmary with serious injuries, but died a short time later.

The road was closed for about six hours.

Central Scotland Police have appealed to anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
