Tom Watson MP on data laws 'hasty legislation'

10 July 2014 Last updated at 14:16 BST

The rush for new data laws means there is no way for MPs to come to an informed decision, said an MP who spoke of a "stitch-up".

Tom Watson said he was disappointed with his leader Ed Miliband party for backing the government move, adding it was "anti-democratic" and a political mistake for the Labour Party.

And he said hundreds of MPs away from Parliament in their constituencies were probably unaware of the move for emergency powers to ensure police can continue to access phone and internet records.
