Liam Fox: Jihadists 'hate us because of who we are'

22 June 2014 Last updated at 10:58 BST

Ex-defence secretary Liam Fox tells BBC that politicians will need to analyse whether the security forces have enough powers and enough funding to tackle extremism.

Mr Fox was speaking on the Andrew Marr Show after a senior Scotland Yard officer said that police in the UK will have to deal with the threat of British fighters returning from Syria for "many years".

Mr Fox said that ideological issues mean that ignoring what is happening in Iraq and Syria is not an issue.
