Sun photo: Former Liverpool mayor on Miliband and Clegg

13 June 2014 Last updated at 13:06 BST

Both Ed Miliband and Clegg should "clearly apologise for the hurt they will have caused" for backing a Sun newspaper campaign, said a former mayor and leader of Liverpool City Council.

Lord Storey, now the Lib Dem's education spokesman in the House of Lords, said: "I don't think people outside of Merseyside realise the great upset and harm The Sun caused to the people of this city."

Political leaders have been pictured holding up a copy of the newspaper, which is being given away across England, outside Liverpool because of feelings over its coverage of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
