Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood on Welsh independence

4 May 2014 Last updated at 10:54 BST

The leader of Plaid Cymru, Leanne Wood, has said she is "very confident" Wales will achieve independence in her lifetime.

Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show, she said that Welsh polls consistently showed support for more devolution and that the country's dependency would reduce over time.

Asked whether the threat of UKIP could cause Plaid to lose their only seat in the European Parliament, Ms Wood said that choosing to vote for UKIP at the forthcoming elections would mean "a dangerous future" for Wales and that it was important to choose a party like them who wanted to remain part of the EU.
