PMQs: Cameron and Miliband on 40p and 50p top tax rates

29 January 2014 Last updated at 13:33 GMT

Ed Miliband pressed the prime minister about tax levels and repeatedly asked him whether the government would rule out a top tax rate cut to 40p,

David Cameron said he wanted the rich to pay more tax, but a 50p rate would damage investment and jobs, and he called Labour an "anti-business, anti-growth, anti-jobs" party.

Labour announced this week, it was committed to restoring the 50p tax rate, if it wins the 2015 general election, and claimed it was backed by "the people of Britain"
