Illegal immigrant removal rate criticised by MPs

Only 1.5% of reports alleging illegal immigration result in a person being removed from the UK, MPs have said.

The report from the Home Affairs Select Committee also found that immigration officers were currently dealing with a backlog of nearly half a million cases.
