Free meals for all at infant schools in England

17 September 2013 Last updated at 22:40 BST

Children in the first three years of primary education will get free school meals in England from next September.

The Treasury will allocate extra money to the rest of the UK and it will be for the devolved administrations to decide how they spend it.

The measure was announced by Nick Clegg at the Liberal Democrats Conference in Glasgow and will cost an estimated £600m per year.

Danny Savage reports.
