Eric Pickles: Immigrants must learn to speak English

11 July 2013 Last updated at 12:58 BST

On the Daily Politics soapbox, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles argues that foreigners settling in the UK should learn English to help them integrate and get a job.

There are questions about whether those who settle in the UK should be forced to learn English and whether central and local government should pay for lessons to integrate migrants into their community.

Mr Pickles was joined by Vix Garner, The Arbour's head of women's service, and student Beenish Tariq.
