The US government has been showing "a kind of incompetence", said the Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney who reckoned its behaviour was "very dissembling and mendacious.''
He reckoned whistleblowers Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning were the "good guys,'' as "they were telling us honestly about lies that the government is telling the citizens."
Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith claimed there was "stronger case for secrecy" - as she debated terrorists' use of the internet with Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo.
