Living on £1 a day: Jack McConnell on going hungry
Former Scottish First Minister Jack McConnell explained why he was going to live on £1 a day for food to highlight how one billion people have to manage on that in parts of the world.
He said it would be crazy to live on crisps and chocolate, and he planned ahead but it meant foregoing his favourite milk - as well as the more expensive alcohol and coffee.
The former MSP, now Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale, said it was tough to manage the five days for Live Below the Line, but it was a "campaign, not a life choice".
And he recalled how he had fallen asleep when taking part in a previous campaign..
