Help

MPs have voted by 400 to 175, a majority of 225, in favour of government proposals for same-sex marriage in England and Wales.

Their decision to back the bill at its second reading signifies that they agree with it in principle.

The legislation will now proceed to receive more detailed parliamentary scrutiny.
