Gordon Brown is to make a rare appearance as a backbench MP in a debate on the future of two factories in Fife, later on Wednesday.

The Daily Politics looked back to a 2011 debate calling for the withdrawal of News Corporation's bid to take over broadcaster BSkyB, before the Daily Mail's Quentin Letts and Labour peer Joan Bakewell looked at what former leaders have done - and what they could have done.
