Lord Bell: 'Thatcher operation no big deal'

Help

Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher is in hospital after having a growth removed from her bladder and is, according to Lord Tim Bell, recuperating after a successful operation.

Lord Bell, a friend and former adviser, told BBC News she is "very tough" and the operation was "no big deal".

Baroness Thatcher, who is 87 and has suffered from ill health in recent years, was admitted to hospital on Thursday and is expected to be kept in hospital for a few days.
