Mark Carney, Margaret Thatcher and Grant Shapps predictions


Mark Carney is the latest in a list of high-profile figures to rule themselves out of a job - only to later accept it, or at least be linked to it.

George Osborne announced on Monday the new governor of the Bank of England, even through Mr Carney had told the BBC a few months previously that he did not want the job.
