The Electoral Commission has ordered an inquiry into the low turnout of voters in the first elections for police and crime commissioners in England and Wales.

It was the lowest ever turnout for a national poll, ranging from 12 to 20% in the 41 areas where voting took place.

Julia Mulligan is the newly elected Conservative PCC for North Yorkshire.
