PM and German leader speak ahead of meeting on EU budget
The Prime Minister David Cameron has held crunch talks on the EU budget with the German leader Angela Merkel.
The leaders gave a joint press conference before their meeting.
The PM - who is facing calls from Tory rebels and Labour to demand a cut - said the budget should be frozen "at worst".
Mrs Merkel acknowledged that Britain and Germany were both net contributors to the EU but said they had to reach a deal that would "stand up in the court of public opinion back home".
