Labour's vision for schools

Help

Shadow Education Secretary Stephen Twigg says he wants more freedoms but more set standards for all schools.

Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Stephen Twigg said he was in favour of all schools having the freedom to set their own school day.

But he added that academies and free schools should be bound by standards on school food.

Stephen Twigg also said he wanted to see more involvement for local authorities and communities in deciding how many schools are in their area.
