Votes at 16 and 17: Eleanor Laing and Rhammel Afflick
Young people aged 16 and 17 are affected by decisions made by politicians and so should be able to vote, said Rhammel Afflick from the British Youth Council.
But Conservative MP Eleanor Laing said "you have to draw the line somewhere" and that should be when people become adults at 18.
They debated the issue after reports that the referendum on Scottish independence, set for 2014, could see the voting age lowered from 18 to 16.
