Tory conference: Jeremy Hunt on NHS and health budgets
Demand for health services had increased by 4% and real-terms spending on the NHS in England was going up "by a small amount", said the new health secretary.
Jeremy Hunt said the NHS budget had been "protected" while government spending was being cut on other government services by 19%.
He said this was "because we know how much health matters to every family in the country."
