A Conservative MP described the PM's plan to have women in a third of ministerial posts as "numerically possible, but I think it is ambitious".
Margot James claimed "some positive action" was needed to boost the role of women in Parliament, and said the number of women MPs elected was trebled at the last election.
She debated with RSA chief executive Matthew Taylor about the PM's attitude towards women and who had been more affected by government cuts.
