Andrew Mitchell 'sorry' over police row

Help

An official police report into an incident which saw Andrew Mitchell argue with an officer says he used the term "plebs", according to the Sun.

The paper claims the report also says Mr Mitchell did swear during the row.

The Tory chief whip has apologised to police after being prevented from cycling through the main gate last week, but says he "did not use the words attributed to me".

David Cameron has full confidence in Andrew Mitchell and said he had taken the "correct action" in apologising for his outburst at police, says No 10.

Carole Walker reports.
