Lord Rennard on Lords reform and Lib Dem poll ratings
The bid to reform the House of Lords dated back to 50 years before Nick Clegg was born, says former Liberal Democrat chief executive Lord Rennard.
He was responding to calls from the Earl of Glasgow on Radio Four's The World At One to "back down a bit" claiming it was not important to most people and was not likely to succeed in Parliament.
Lord Rennard said his fellow peer was wrong over his warning of loss of seats and said the party had made a comeback at the last few general elections after low poll ratings.
