Harold Macmillan's Night of Long Knives: 50 year on
Prime Minister Harold Macmillan carried out the most brutal reshuffle in British political history, better known as the Night of the Long Knives, 50 years ago to the day and also on a Friday the 13th.
Jonathan Aitken, later to be an MP and minister, was then an intern for the Conservative Party and recalled the moment in history.
