MPs reject inquiry into Jeremy Hunt's handling of BSkyB bid
Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has survived a motion in the House of Commons to force an investigation into his dealings with News Corp's bid for BSkyB.
An angry debate in parliament left bitter feelings in the coalition, with some Conservative MPs seething that the Liberal Democrats MPs abstained and did not back Hunt.
Labour's motion had called for the culture secretary to be referred to Sir Alex Allan, the prime minister's adviser on the ministerial code.
The motion was defeated by 290 to 252.
James Landale reports.
