Charles Hendry: Energy bill lowest cost to consumers

Energy minister Charles Hendry said the government's draft energy bill would deliver "energy security" in a low carbon way in the lowest cost to consumers.
But he said consumers would have to pay to "rebuild the energy infrastructure" and the coalition was having to "play catch-up" after under-investment from Labour.
Jenny Jones, Green Party candidate for the Mayor of London, said prices would not fall for consumers as she called for insulation of homes and investment in renewable energy.
Labour peer Lord Adonis backed new investments and renewable energy, but claimed firms had already pulled out of government plans.
