Vince Cable: Election results 'poor' for Lib Dems

Business Secretary Vince Cable has admitted that the local election results for the Liberal Democrats are ''poor'', but said that the difference this time is that the Conservatives are sharing the pain.

He added that the coalition government ''can't be deflected from the core task we have taken on''.

Labour have won a string of victories in English and Welsh local elections, with Ed Miliband saying it shows his party is regaining ground.
