Keith Vaz: UK Border Agency 'not fit for purpose'

Help

The UK Border Agency is "not fit for purpose" and "has to do much better" the chair of the home affairs select committee has told the BBC.

Keith Vaz's comments came as a report by the cross-party committee of MPs said the agency was still failing in its "basic functions" in spite of efforts to overhaul it.

Reflecting on the report, Mr Vaz said that the UKBA must focus on its key tasks, "to track down, remove and deal with those who are here in this country illegally".
