Queen's Diamond Jubilee present: What to buy for royals
The Queen is one of the world's wealthiest women with an estimated personal fortune of £300m, so what could the public buy her to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee this year?
Royal historian Kate Williams offered some advice after Education Secretary Michael Gove suggested taxpayers fund a £60m new yacht.
Previous gifts to the royals have included a cheetah in 1764 to King George lll, while his son was a given a giraffe.
The Queen has received 500 cases of tinned pineapples and 7kg of prawns, while Prince Charles and Princess Diana were given peat from Somerset as a wedding present.
